I did not retain half of what I need to retain from this book. The good news is I can refer back and I have some immediate action items.

This is far less deadly than the game you might remember, but it makes up for it with some nice settings, a dash of history, and a sense of adventure.

The tone is so lovely. It reminds me a bit of the Girl Who Drank the Moon, but slightly sillier. The action is predictable, but it's self-referential enough to be forgiven. It is, afterall, a fairy tale. Unfortunately it didn't really connect with me on a deeper level. I don't have any specific faults to call out. I just liked it, didn't love it.

This book was really tough to get through! I loved it, but boy did it hurt. If any novel ever felt like the ending of act 2 it was this one. Still, it pays off and develops so much world building it's worth the ride. Can't wait to read #4!

I had a ton of fun reading this one tonight. The book got a lot of hype from an article on SyFyWire (www.syfy.com/syfywire/choose-your-own-demise-prisoner-of-the-ant-people) and it didn't really live up to it. Still, despite not having nearly as much horrible death as suggested, it was well written with interesting and varied storylines. Everything wasn't railroaded and the book didn't waste time with fake choices like, "will you go on an adventure or will you go to sleep?".
