The way Chesterton writes, I think I need to read the entire chapter surrounding this quote from page 107 in order to understand it: "very desolate philosophy of Oscar Wilde. It is the carpe diem religion, but the carpe diem religion is not the religion of happy people, but of very unhappy people."
