Oof, all the torture porn

One of my friends recommended Karin Slaughter, and so I tried the first book of her Grant County series. The first book made me super uncomfortable, because it was about a serial killer who raped for religious reasons. One of the PoV characters was a victim, which meant you got very detailed torture porny-description of her being raped and crucified to the floor.
I am not sure why I decided to give Karin Slaughter another go. This book was just as disturbing, plus it involves all the PTSD of the character who was raped in the first book. In this case, a 13-year old girl tries to shoot a 16-year old boy at a skate rink, and the main police guy shoots her to stop that. While investigating, it turns out that both kids were part of a child porn ring. But all described in a super-disturbing, almost voyeuristic way that made me so uncomfortable.
Yeah, it was a bit much. Plus the main protagonist lost it because her sister was considering an abortion, and it was then that I decided that this author simply isn't for me at all.
