There were a lot of disappointing endings in this story. It's not that the endings were bad, but they left too much hanging and didn't feel as decisive as most CYOA books do. Of course, this was the first, so it gets extra points for starting the awesomeness.

I ended up cleaning out my bug-out bag and replacing some aging items thanks to this book. It was pretty solid and not too horrifying as far as armegeddon books go. I'll probably pick up book 2 once I give my wallet a break.

This one was pretty ridiculous. Just imagine young Will Riker running for his life in the middle of a war desperately gripping his trombone. Yup.

This is the most difficult of the Dune books to review. On the one hand, it's extremely slow owing to the extraordinary amount of Bene Gesserit internal monologues. On the other hand, it finally reveals the inner-workings of some of the biggest mysteries in the series. Finally, it leaves us with an incredible set of cliffhangers.

For what it is, the book is superb. Were there a proper follow up by Frank himself, I'd say this would be one of people's favorites. As a finale to the series, it sucks.

These books are such fun!

The author tried shoving a lot into this short story but they didn't all fit right. Details stand out, characters don't. The elements that feel pulled in from life do more to highlight the falseness of the rest rather than grounding things. Meh.

This started out pretty interesting. I enjoyed the main character's relationship to her family and the new emerging friendship. When the action got started, though, everything quickly fell apart. Motivations were strained or forgotten completely, action became haphazard.
