I'm glad that it was for bookclub, because the value of this book for me was in the discussions I had with coworkers about applying these thoughts and ideas to other domains, or to things that are specific to what we do.

I 100% agree with the underlying principle, but don't think I would have gotten as much out of it on my own.

DNF

Got about a quarter of the way through it. Just picked it up because I was between books and it was Available Now at the library. I've read a couple tidying-up/minimalism books by now, so I might be kind of ruined on the concept of a memoir of somebody discovering these principles without contributing much newness to the topic.

That said, I got bored and didn't finish, so maybe the second half was amazing. I guess I'll never know! The library book I was actually waiting for has arrived and I'm moving on! 👋

I didn't know this story.

All I knew about Over The Rhine before this is that they are a cute husband-and-wife pop band.

A young adult gritty urban fantasy heist plot. This was great. I'm shorting it a star for ending the book in the middle of the action. And also for everybody with any kind of romantic interest in anybody else refusing to talk about their feelings at all, ever, even a tiny bit. (Except for spoiler and spoiler at the end.)

the second half of the book brought the "action" part of action/suspense and was interesting enough to save this from one star.

DARBY THORNE

I'm not sure why I feel as though she was overall guarded and reserved when in fact she talked candidly and emotionally about very personal struggles.

She did a good job reading. Usually read-by-the-author books suffer for lack of a professional reader.
