Zwischen erneuten Rückblicken entwirft Atwood Ausblicke auf eine Zukunft, die einen weiteren Fokus aufs Menschsein mit all seinen Fehlern (Besitzdenken, Eifersucht, Gewalt, Töten usw.), aber auch den Errungenschaften (Schreiben, Erzählen usw.) wirft. Am Ende steht die Frage im Raum, ob die Menschheit es diesmal schaffen wird. Wohl eher nicht!
