Thoughtful book
Although the book is meant for children it's worth reading for adults.

This novel is set in a future society where a young boy named Jonas lives in a seemingly perfect world. But when Jonas is selected to be the "Receiver of Memory" he starts to see the cracks in the carefully constructed society. The Giver won the Newbery Medal in 1994.

Decent book. Well written. More appropriate for YA readers, but as an adult I can still appreciate it. Wish I could give it 3.5 stars instead of 4 (or 3), but rounded up to 4 because I probably would have liked it more in my youth.
